Dear Friends, We just finished 3 successful shows of Dancing on Glass @CounterPULSE! A big 'Thank You' to our team of designers, actors, volunteers, friends who came to see the show and the CounterPULSE staff! We had a chance to get the show on it's feet without the luxury of previews and a full run.

So we finally did it. CounterPULSE got a major facelift this week (sorry to those of you who love the Pepto Bismol colored primer coat). Check out these awesome photos but more importantly swing by in 2 weeks for Sri Susilowati's and Prumsudun Ok's Performing Diaspora shows and you can check it out in person.

For the next year my blogs will be focusing on the development of my piece, “Our Daily Bread” which will premier next April at CounterPULSE…and the journey that this piece is taking me on is already soooo deep… Most recently, I cooked for folks who were taking Rashad Pridgen’s (AKA Soul Nubian) AfroHouseHop class at

One of the major challenges I had in preparing for Mission Suhani this year was finding new actors, as many of the previous actors from last year were not available. This situation is expected when you try to involve community members as actors in a participatory effort like Mission Suhani. Most of these community members

Don't miss my Goldie-winning, back-by-popular demand, one-woman show, Faux Real! Fresh from a smashing stint in London, Faux Real returns to the Climate Theater (in their temporary home at TJT - please note the venue change). 8 more shows I can't wait to see all of you there. When you're as far away from India as we are - here in the Bay Area - it's easy to mistakenly think of that distant land as one unified place where you find one unified culture. Of course, the truth is much more complicated. India occupies over a million square miles of the globe and

1. How did you discover and learn about the lifestyle stresses of Call Centre employees in preparing to direct the play? I had heard about the lifestyle stresses of Call Center employees over the last few years— fatigue, insomnia, depression, nightmares, illness, dealing with racist customers, burn-out, inter-generational conflict and gender issues. I was

On Saturday September 18, 2010 the cast of "Ampey!" hit the streets of San Francisco with some short and powerful vocal performances. We performed in front of Rasputin's on Powell Street, Powell and Market, Civic Center and 16th Street BART Stations from 3p to 6p. It was very exciting to see weekend shoppers stop and take notice of
