Dear Friends, Thank you for attending our staged-reading of Bhopal by Rahul Varma at CounterPULSE on Friday, March 26th! I directed Bhopal to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Bhopal Tragedy and to honor Habib Tanvir, a legendary director from India, who translated the play into Hindi as Zahreeli Hawa (Poisonous Wind). Bhopal was staged minimally. 6 actors sat on chairs on either side of the stage. We had a wonderful dancer, vocalist and tabla player, seated on a rug

1. How did you discover and learn about the lifestyle stresses of Call Centre employees in preparing to direct the play? I had heard about the lifestyle stresses of Call Center employees over the last few years— fatigue, insomnia, depression, nightmares, illness, dealing with racist customers, burn-out, inter-generational conflict and gender issues. I was listening to a paper on plays about Call Centers, presented by a colleague of mine (Jisha Menon) at the Asian American Studies Conference in Texas

Dear Friends, We just finished 3 successful shows of Dancing on Glass @CounterPULSE! A big 'Thank You' to our team of designers, actors, volunteers, friends who came to see the show and the CounterPULSE staff! We had a chance to get the show on it's feet without the luxury of previews and a full run. We have 2 additional shows at Red Poppy on Thurs. October 14 7 PM & Fri.
