Permutae

August 12th and 13th at 8pm. Permutae is a collaboration between artists Finley Coyl and Mary Franck with dancers Kyra Rice, Chrysalis Hyon, and Qilo Matzen that maps the expanding technological-biological horizon through representation and recreation of queer bodies, questioning the boundaries of that growth towards greater agency and the manifestation of desire. We began this piece with a fascination with technology's impact on our bodies. Cyborg fantasies, a third arm, tentacles, a hard drive in the head - we're

Howdy CounterPULSE Peeps, I'm Tessa, the outreach intern. I had an urge to blog, which has never really happened to me before,  so I figured I would talk about my time at CounterPULSE so far. Well...where to begin? Basically, I love working here. Er'body is really nice and I'm learning a ton. But enough about me — I want to talk about the Summer Specials, not just because it's my job, but because they are really great! Last night I

2011-06-14T21:49:49-07:00By |Categories: CounterPULSE, Summer Special 2011|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Hiya folks! Last weekend, I got to show a couple of pieces from Persepolis, Texas (debuting this July 15th, 16th and 17th at CounterPULSE!). This happened at The Garage, as part of Like This: Works Queerly Made, curated by Jesse Hewit, presented by Joe Landini, and alongside Peter Max Lawrence and the Minna Harri Experience Set. I was honored to be among a couple of such rigorous and delightful artists. I had a lot of constructive feedback, and I am

Rustling Silk Official Description

2011-05-29T21:29:44-07:00By |Categories: CounterPULSE, Summer Special 2011|

Rustling Silk, Avy K Productions’ new multimedia, structured improvisation, dedicates a poetic evening to the lost civilization of the ancient nomadic horsemen. In our exploration, myself, Erika Tsimbrovsky (Artistic Director/choreographer), and co-founder Vadim Puyandaev (visual artist/performer) will try to find traces of this ancient civilization in our urban world and seek to discover whether small fragments remain. The symbol of the horsemen is one which holds deep personal meaning for us, having grown up in inner Asia. We will make
