MAP OF THE MANGO PLANET

PART II. THE NORTH POLE

 Saturday November 22, 2008  8p.m. Performance

North is an established position and direction relative to another location on the Mango planet and within its systems, countries, states, bodies, not dependent upon changes made within those other locations.  However, if everything turned upside down or inside out, North would not be north.

On the mango planet, everything is backwards, inside out in its relation to planet earth. The North Pole is uninhabited by humans as we know it, where only magical creatures exist by dreaming and dancing a fire that is seen and unseen.  These magical creatures, similar to polar bears, are vehicles for human transformation.

Where did the Map of the Mango Planet come from?  Why Part II. The North Pole?

An urbanized human can still dream!  Many years ago two dreams came through during sleep—one of the mango tree and the other of the polar bear imprint.  The first manifestation of the sleeping dreams into the waking reality came into form as many mango paintings, a few mango sculptures and then the first solo dance on April Fool’s Day 2006 called Madame Jellyfish.  In April 2007, a salon piece of the North Pole was performed.  And then in June 2008, a solo of The North Pole was performed.

On June 28, 2008 the first production of Map of the Mango Planet: Part III.  The Fullmoon Tango was performed at CounterPULSE.  This piece was the South Pole which is the north pole turned inside out.  It was about shadow and light and passion.

There are three parts to the Map of the Mango Planet.  On November 22, 2008 the second production, Part II. The North Pole is being performed.  And in the future of 2009 or 2010, Part I. Madame Jellyfish will be performed not as a conclusion but as the continuum of perpetual motion in time, future to past, past to future.

The dreams clearly expressed the outcome of the productions to benefit children who have been stripped of their innocence by the harshness of the ignorant and sick world which they have found themselves.  And so, in this waking reality, all ticket proceeds and art sales are donated to One Child At A Time Inc. for the benefit of the Thai Project (www.onechildatatimeinc.org).

So, if you are reading this you are participating in a grand dream, a creation myth, a healing touch to Thai children, a support to Kru Nam, the Thai artist who saves children from sexual slavery and abuse.  Selah, it is here.  This is the Map of the Mango Planet.  WE ARE HERE.
