emotional labor

_BH_1648Emotional labor is not unlike physical labor. I build muscles through repetition

       to lift

              to hold

                        to erase

I build muscles

         to grieve

                to honor

                        to process

I build muscles

         To protect

                    To placate

                               To Pretend

I’ve trained rigorously to be nurturing, vulnerable, connected.
