As we’re just getting to know each other, dear CounterPULSE community, I’ll do my best to share with you what I’m thinking about, how I work, and what I’m creating throughout FACT/SF’s residency. It occurs to me that sometimes sharing inspirations is the most effective way of communicating interests…so we’ve launched “Tasty Tuesdays” on our Facebook page. Each week we post a video of a choreographer, thinker, visual artist, writer, etc., who we think is doing important work, who we imagine ourselves to be in dialogue with, and who we are so very inspired by. This week’s Tasty Tuesdays pick is the inimitable Anouk van Dijk. Hope you enjoy!

Inspired by ancestral, community-centered, and spiritual relationships to land and plants, [and then we must be] by Audrey Johnson is a research and ritual project honoring Black American practices with land and plants through the modes of food, farming, rootwork, and magic. The work honors the practices that get passed down through recipe, spell, and story, as well as the memories active and activated in the body, plants, the land (soil, clay, mycelium, strata), and in spirit.
