CONTACTAbout the Project:  CONTACT is a contemporary performance training and development model, that brings together mixed ensembles of veterans and civilians, to train together and co-create a multi-disciplinary, audience-interactive performance installation.  CONTACT works to bridge the societal divide between veterans of war and the civilian population and seeks to reframe U.S. public rhetoric regarding contemporary wars, engender a deeper investigation of war, and deconstruct the ‘othering’ of the veteran population.  Each performance installation is unique and created from the ground up by the local ensemble.  Some components of the performance installations: original staging and choreography, personal narratives and script written by the ensemble, live and recorded music and sound, site-specific engagement of performance space, audience interaction and engagement.  The project is currently in development, through the CounterPULSE Artists in Residency Commissioning Program (ARC), with performance installations taking place March 13-22, 2014.  Watch a video excerpt from the first project draft in Western Massachusetts HERE.

Creative (Generative and Performing) Ensemble:  A mixed ensemble of veterans, civilians, artists and non-artists, and a team of designers, and other experts who will be involved throughout the creative process.  The development process will be fun, physically rigorous, challenging, a safe space co-created by all involved.

Development Schedule:  Process period: mid-November 2013 to mid-March 2014, not including holidays. (3) rehearsals/ week minimum, during working weeks; more intensive rehearsal periods in February/ March.
