CounterPulse is located in Yelamu, the unceded land of the Raymatush Ohlone people. We give gratitude to the land, and the past, present, and future Indigenous stewards of this land on which we have built our community’s home. As caretakers of this 3000 square foot piece of Yelamu, we commit to ensuring that this place offers a service to Indigenous people and other communities most impacted by histories of subjugation, displacement, and violence.
We commit to the following:
- Providing free and subsidized space to Black people and people of the African Diaspora, Indigenous people, other people of color, and Tenderloin community members working in alignment with our mission and vision.
- If you have aligned projects that could use CounterPulse’s space, please reach out to producing@counterpulse.org.
- Offering tribal Land Acknowledgements before all programs and presentations.
- Working with Indigenous leaders to train our staff on offering Land Acknowledgements.
- Holding 80 Turk St in a deed-restricted trust that ensures its use for arts and culture in perpetuity.
