Embodied Divination is a movement-based workshop where you are invited to contemplate your body as oracle, as compass, and a site for social repair. A journey together moving through concepts of identity/oppression/privilege/dying/rebirth/isolation/connection and the liminal space of now.
Drawing from Yoruba Lukumí spiritual technologies, we will explore how we move oracle through our bodies as a way to move through the chaos of this moment in time.
Please bring the following:
– Clothes to get sweaty in
– Notebook and pen/pencil
– Water to drink
– Blanket and or pillow
– If you work with any talismans/crystals/sacred objects that offer you protection, have them present during our time(s) together.
Open to all levels movement experience.

About the Facilitator
Amara Tabor-Smith (she/her/we) was born and raised in San Francisco and lives in Oakland, CA. We are a choreographer/performance maker and the artistic director of Deep Waters Dance Theater. She describes her work as Afro futurist Conjure Art. Her interdisciplinary site-specific and community responsive performance works utilize Yoruba Lukumí spiritual technologies to address issues of social and environmental justice, race, gender identity, and belonging. Our work is rooted in black, queer, womanist principles, that insist on liberation, joy and well-being.
