Dany and Joel do zines as a form of journaling, self support, and safety planning.
This Block Fest activity was designed to guide people through the process of turning a blank page into a book that turns the lens inward towards the self. Through honesty, vulnerability, and a bit of doodling, these little books serve as reminders of the things we like about ourselves, the things we’d like to change, and how we support ourselves and keep ourselves safe.
Joel and Dany work for San Francisco Suicide Prevention and first collaborated on a safety plan zine when Dany joined the hotline in the summer of 2018. They have a passion for peer support, and using creative practice as a tool for support.
