Ātl Verde:
“Ātl,” the Nahuatl word for water, symbolizing the river flowing through my evolution—connecting past, present, and future. This piece reflects my journey as a migrant trans mujer, immersing the audience in a lush, sonic, and visual landscape, like a spiritual rain that nurtures growth.
A celebrated trans pioneer in the Bay Area, DE ALMA is a trailblazer of advocacy activism and excellence, leaving endless inspiration and an incredible mark on worlds filled with courage, resilience and care for and from the QTBIPOC2S community. Her journey mirrors that of the vibrant and beloved Monarch Butterfly, as she migrated from Michoacan (Mexico) to California, overcoming impossible odds to establish herself as a multi-dimensional latinx DJ, a pillar in community organizing, as well as an experimental artist.
De Alma is an internationally recognized artist performing at venues such as 1015 Folsom in San Francisco and Bossa Nova Civic Club in New York City, with her most recent shows at Trumbleplex in Detroit and Galería Venenoise in Mexico City. She has graced the decks of Boiler Room, sharing the stage with Yves Tumor, Uniiqu3, Suzi Analog, Green Velvet, Jasmine Infiniti, Nina Sky and Safety Trance aka Cardopusher to name a few.
She sets the stage to perform for divine femininity: Pretty Girl Music. Using a melody that can only be described as technotón… De Alma’s sound is the melding of migration stories, resistance, and euphoric embodiment. This Bay Area Sonidera uses pop cultural references in conjunction with hard dance and Latin grooves, she blends a rich ancestral base, creating a new canon for club music.
