2022 marked a historic shift for CounterPulse – we raised the funds we need to buy our building in downtown San Francisco! As we work to make our dream a reality, we’re counting on our supporters who have seen us from the beginning of this campaign to support our work year-round.
I want to offer my deep gratitude to all the people who have made this effort possible. It’s truly an incredible story, filled with a unique cast of characters! Special thanks to our lead supporters, the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, Epispace Foundation, Walter & Elise Haas Fund, the Herbst Foundation and the CounterPulse Board of Directors.
To date, we have raised $6.6 million towards a $7.1 million goal. Thankfully, the Zellerbach Family Foundation has taken a leap of faith and is piloting a new type of loan with CounterPulse, lending us the remaining funds we need to finalize the purchase while giving us time to fund the reserves we need to steward the facility into the future. The innovations that our effort to buy this building has sparked continuously inspire me.
Now, as we look ahead to 2023, we will finalize the closing documents to complete the purchase and deed restriction – securing the property for CounterPulse and non-profit use in perpetuity! While this paper-pushing part of the process is arduous, the resulting documents and the model they memorialize are a uniquely valuable outcome of this story of extraordinary ingenuity and inventive community collaboration.
As all the hard work of buying the building begins to fade into the rearview mirror, we look to our community to continue supporting the ongoing impact that CounterPulse delivers year after year. I hope you will consider making a donation to CounterPulse this December as we stride toward deeper stability as building owners.
