Hey volunteers new and old!
We are revamping some parts of our volunteer program at CounterPULSE. Take this quick survey and help us build the program you want.
Be a Volunteer Usher!

We would like to express our appreciation to everyone who has already contributed so much time, labor, and love to the space.
Volunteer Ushers at CounterPULSE are an invaluable ingredient in grassroots, socially relevant, community-based arts and culture in San Francisco. Our volunteers help make CounterPULSE’s mission of providing low-cost resources to artists and a no-one-turned-away-for-lack-or-funds policy achievable. Not to mention our ushers get to see tons of free performances!
Volunteer General Responsibilities:
- 1. Show up to CounterPULSE an hour and a half before show time
- 2. Lend a hand at the box office, the concession stand or ticket taking/program distribution
- 3. Stay 10-15 minutes after the show end to help with basic clean-up
Note: There is not dress code or age requirements for volunteer ushers at CounterPULSE
Please email Julie at counterpulse.org or if you’d rather speak to a live person call 415-626-2060.
Thank you for your interest. We look forward to having you become part of our vibrant family and keeping CounterPULSE alive and thriving.

Hi Julie,
I would like to volunteer as a photographer to build my photography porfolio. I can take photos of anything. Thanks, and I hope to hear from you soon.

I have always found volunteering at CP to be a well organized, easy-to handle experience that has left me feeling good for contributing and rewarded by seeing the shows that I want to see. I think you already do a great job, actually.

Ushering for shows at CounterPULSE has been one of the smartest things I started doing when I moved to SF because I get to hang out with cool people, see a bunch of shows without going broke, and volunteer my time. Thanks.

I love volunteering at CP because the staff are so cool, the shows are amazingly high quality and very eclectic and something you won’t necessarily see anywhere else, and it’s a tightly-run ship — something a volunteer always appreciates!
