Artists Against Genocide

A gathering of the Bay Area’s performing artists and our communities, hosted at CounterPulse on Jan. 14th, from 11pm-2am. This event is a 14 hour marathon of programming designed for the purpose of education, mobilization, and radical acts of togetherness (Final schedule is linked here). Attendants will have freedom to move through this choose-your-own-adventure style event with opportunities to both listen to and expand the edges of one’s capacity.
This event will offer:
- Boycott education
- Altar building
- Plots for future acts of protest & protest sign-making
- Artistic offerings
- Open stage for performances
- Anti-colonial somatic workshops
- Soundbath healing sessions
- Teach-ins and a Q+A panel
- A “Call Your Reps” phone bank
- Film screenings
- Community potluck (make sure to bring a list of ingredients)
*Masks are required for all attendees, unless eating, drinking or performing, and we encourage COVID testing beforehand.
*ASL interpretation will be offering for the Teach-In Panel on Genocide from 3-4:30 pm.

DONATIONS
We are accepting sliding-scale donations at the door, with a suggested contribution of $5 to $50. All donations will go towards covering the costs of this all-volunteer event, including paying teach-in panelists, security, and ASL interpreters for their time.
LOBBY
Altar-Building
- Help hold our collective grief by building a shared altar that honors those killed in Palestine, as well as victims in the Congo, Haiti, Sudan, and all other places experiencing genocidal/imperialist violence. Bring an offering, photo, flower or any other ritual item to place on the altar.
PROJECT SPACE (downstairs)
-Video installation / Film screenings / Quiet Space
- Featuring films, documentaries, video lectures by Ilan Pappé, Angela Davis & more!
- Pillows, blankets, low light, and mats for resting, chilling, and decompressing.
NOOK NEXT TO PROJECT SPACE (downstairs, near the bathrooms)
-Phone Banking Station: Call Your Reps
- We will have phone numbers listed for SF, Oakland, and CA representatives, so you can call to demand a ceasefire.
-Station for Protest Sign-Making: led by Jiji Eljaouhari
- We will have markers, poster-board, and paper available, as well as samples of slogans & messages. Come make your sign for the next protest or rally!
MEZZANINE (upstairs, above the Lobby)
-Potluck
- Bring a warm dish or non-alcoholic drink to share. Please bring a list of ingredients to post with your dish/drink.
ACCESS INFO:
- CounterPulse is an ADA accessible venue with an elevator & two ADA accessible bathrooms.
- All attendees must wear a mask, unless you are eating, drinking or performing. Masks will also be provided. We strongly encourage COVID testing before attending. Please do not attend if you are feeling sick.
- This is a dry/non-alcoholic event; please do not bring alcohol or drugs.
- ASL services for the Deaf will be provided for the Teach-In on Genocide panel only.
- We will have security at the door and safety monitors throughout the event.
