Switch is CounterPulse’s cultural exchange program that catalyzes collaborations between artists, initiatives, and communities outside of the Bay Area. We pose exchange as an integral part of the creative process. We strategize generative diversity across cultural lines and creative practices as a tactic to exponentially shift the field of discourse. Switch is creating a platform for sophisticating collaboration across differences.
On November 15th, London-based Rwandan artist Ishimwa Muhimanyi will live and work at CounterPulse to steep his work in the rich queer performance scene of the Bay Area under the mentorship of local artist Keith Hennessy. His work is his journey as he asks: how can I live freely in this black body scared or perhaps gifted with memories of loss, abuse and neglect?
This pilot micro-residency exchange is part of our ongoing Switch program and is co-sponsored by CounterPulse’s core member Neelu Bhuman.
