Join CounterPulse Block Fest Artist Activators Rick Darnell and Jeff Marshall in the Tenderloin Day of the Dead Altar Project.
Every Friday in September, commemorate those who have left us with this free, family-friendly activity. We’ll provide all materials needed.
The finished altar will be displayed at CounterPulse October 1-5.
Optional: bring a photo or image of the person(s) you are honoring, to include in your ofrenda. We will copy the image and immediately return the original.
Altar dedication on Friday, September 28, 4-5pm at CounterPulse.
Block Fest = Fun. Free. Every Friday.
Every Friday from 3PM-5PM locally sourced Artist Activators offer up free art making. Block Fest animates and celebrates the unit block of Turk Street (between Mason Street and Taylor Street) with free arts activities, cultural offerings, community information, and discussion for the local residents, workers, and visitors. From live performance and art exhibition to screen printing workshops and crochet jams, Block Fest is a monthly celebration of the Tenderloin’s creative spirit.
