New Experiments is a unique opportunity for aerial artists to come together to build community, share ideas, and present short new works in a mixed program presented in partnership with CounterPulse. In advance of the public performance, artists will participate in an open rehearsal at Zaccho Studio where they can share feedback among fellow participants as well as established dance and aerial choreographers in the field.
About the San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival, www.sfaerialartsfest.org
Founded in 2014, the biennial San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival is the Bay Area’s premiere aerial arts event featuring internationally recognized aerial artists and exciting new artists breaking into the field. Produced by Zaccho Dance Theatre, this festival features spectacle, daring athleticism, aerial dance, and circus to create a dynamic three day performance event. Our mission is to create a world-class festival devoted to aerial artistry in all its shapes & forms. We bring together many of the finest performers and practitioners working today and showcase their artistry as it is rarely seen: side-by-side in a multi-faceted, site-specific celebration against the backdrop of our co-presenter Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, a major historic & cultural facility in San Francisco’s Marina District. The 2022 festival’s New Experiments program will also mark our first collaboration with San Francisco’s premiere experimental performance venue, CounterPulse.
