How can we see and feel connectedness, to our own roots, families (blood or chosen) and communities? And how might working directly with tree communities help us see, feel and recognize our interdependence—with one another and responsibility toward all life?

the NETWORK project addresses human survival and what we truly need– from sustainable living practices to communal engagement and empathy, as we recognize and build our resilience. Considering climate change, and other immediate crises, the project is inspired by systems of communication, resource-sharing and survival employed in tree communities, as a lens to consider human community building.

Directed by Krista DeNio and co-created with a team of performers, scientists, land stewards and designers, working with trees and land, utilizing dance, theater and media design, to create a multi-dimensional, embodied experience, connecting audience participants with the site, themselves and one another. Together we create communal systems and strategies toward our own survival.

Djerassi Resident Artists Program is located at 2325 Bare Gulch Road in Woodside, CA.
There will be no tickets available day of.
Tickets must be purchased by July 1st.

About KD>>Moving Ground//

KD>>MovingGround creates collaborative, interdisciplinary performance projects using dance and theater to investigate connections between impactful socio-political issues and our personal lives. Artistic Director, Krista DeNio is an interdisciplinary choreographer, director, performer, writer and educator. She facilitates creative projects based on the principles and practices of ensemble-based theater. Her work is based in embodied experience, social justice, civic engagement and human-to-human interaction. With her collaborators, she builds site-specific, audience-interactive theater experiences, where performers, audience participants and community partners engage the storytelling from various perspectives and choice-making. Each experience is accompanied by forums for interaction.

Krista directs EchoTheaterSuitcase project, bringing together mixed ensembles of military veterans and civilian non-veterans, to create original, site-specific, audience interactive performance work based on the stories of each unique ensemble; and has worked with many choreographers and directors over the past 20+ years, most recently including Anne Bluethenthal and ABD Productions as an Artist Facilitator with Skywatchers and ABD Productions. Skywatchers creates performance work, engaging advocacy and community building with residents of San Francisco’s Tenderloin District.
