Kegan Marling

OCT 10-19, THU-SAT at 8PM, SUN at 7PM

Join Kegan Marling and Mica Sigourney for a cabaret adventure as they slip into an intimate and indulgent world of two gay boys drunk on whiskey, surrounded by sparkles, and pleading for Freddie Mercury to carry them off as they huddle together against the rolling sunrise.

“I saw the narcissism and arrested emotional development all around me, and in me. Guys flitting around like Peter Pan were sometimes cute and funny, and certainly nonthreatening, but I wanted to be a grown up. I wanted to be a man. I wanted to be strong, solid, stable and reliable.” – David Kyle Foster

Influenced by cabaret-style theater and 1980’s bear-bar culture, Jump Ship Mid Way features performances by Mica Sigourney (Club SOME THING) and Kegan Marling (Sideshow Physical Theatre) with lighting design by Jerry Lee Abram. Jump Ship Mid Way was originally conceived during a residency at CounterPULSE in 2010/11. These performances are supported by the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, Triangle Lab’s Artist-Investigator Project, the Zellerbach Family Foundation, CA$H Grant, Dancers’ Group’s Lighting Artists in Dance Award and the New Stages for Dance Award, administered by Dance/USA in partnership with Dancers’ Group and supported by MetLife Foundation.

Kegan Marling is an independent choreographer, photographer and arts consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area. A dance artist for the past 20 years, he has worked with artists including the San Jose/Cleveland Ballet, Bill T. Jones, Lea Anderson, Joe Goode, Nigel Charnock, Scott Wells, Jane Schnorrenberg, and Della Davidson/Sideshow Physical Theatre. Marling was recently selected for the pilot round of Triangle Lab’s Artist-Investigator Program, a collaboration of Intersection for the Arts and Cal Shakes, and is currently working on photo-essay book on play and queer culture. http://www.keganmarling.org/

Mica Sigourney is a performance artist, drag queen, curator, gogo dancer, instigator, emcee, and nightlife enthusiast. His works can be seen every Friday at the Stud Bar as the emcee of Club SOME THING. Sigourney has held residencies in Vienna, Stockholm and San Francisco and has performed internationally and nationally as both a drag queen and dancer. In 2013 Sigourney was awarded Performer of the Year by the S.F. Bay Guardian and as a member of art collective Nicole Kidman is Fucking Gorgeous was recently commissioned by the Asian Art Museum to create new performance. http://cargocollective.com/micasigourne
