Freeicecream.network is an experimental multimedia work exploring how our desire for connection and delicious treats entangles us with networks of information technologies. As a hybrid network of human and non-human agents, the development of the piece is both influenced and guided by the emergent behaviors of the system’s inhabitants. Robots, sensors, performers and cameras around the space communicate with each other through a wireless network, leading to a distributed decision-making process that underlies the progression of events all of which culminates in free ice cream.
Audiences are able to simultaneously engage in real-time with the interactive hybrid network that underpins the performance. Come be immersed in this emergent artwork and you could receive “free” ice cream as a reward for your participation!
