In this workshop, activators provide sacred space for neighbor cohorts to choose an object from a pile of objects and share how it relates to their story. Three topics will help frame the fabric woven with their imagery and words. Cohorts may choose:

1. Good Neighbor: Choose an object that shows how you helped someone or that represents how someone helped you. Share that story with us.

2. Strength: Choose an object that illustrates a time when you found the strength you needed and tell us about it.

3. Home: Choose an object that represents home to you. Tell us why.

Participants will choose their object and tell us the story as they pass the object around the circle, much as a talking stick is passed around a sacred fire ring. By allowing everyone to attach somatically with each object, we both with the community, strength and home. Listening to someone’s experience is the greatest gift we can offer. There is powerful, human connection to holding sacred space, creating community and celebrating our daily lives together through the act of storytelling. Let’s continue the celebration!

Block Fest is supported by BLICK Art Materials and the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development Invest In Neighborhoods program.

Block Fest is a part of 4 Corner Friday.
