Heaven 58 Is a collaboration between Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and deceased writer, rebel, pervert, film maker Jean Genet (December 19, 1910 – April 15, 1986).
In this short film, Faluda Islam a rebel leader from a future revolution is sent to an underworld prison guarded penopticon style by a French warden who obsesses over the post-human inmates held within. He is particularly intent on watching the relationship between Faluda Islam and her next door neighbour who although separated by a wall develop a passionate affair. This film of dreamscapes within dreamscapes is an ode to Genet’s film, Un Chant d’amour which is in itself an ode to the Algerian revolution (1954-1962).
