Learn about upcoming opportunities to be a paid Artist Activator and meet fellow community artists at the FREE Tenderloin Community Arts Mixer. Lights snacks and refreshments will be provided.
About this opportunity:
CounterPulse and the Central City S.R.O. Collaborative (CCSRO) are pleased to announce a public art opportunity for artists working in and with the communities of the Tenderloin (or with interest in doing so). The organizations seek up to eight Artist Activators to partner with CounterPulse, CCSRO and Tenderloin residents to design projects to feature at a monthly Block Fest on Turk Street between Mason Street and Taylor Street.
Every first Friday of the month (beginning November 2016) from 3PM-4:30PM CounterPulse, CCSRO, and Artist Activators will animate the block with art, culture, and community. We hope to celebrate what makes the Tenderloin special, elevate underheard community concerns, and engage our neighbors in art making and sharing.
Artists will partner with CounterPulse and CCSRO staff to plan, execute, and evaluate projects for their assigned month of Block Fest. Projects will happen outside of CounterPulse and CCSRO, so technical support will be limited. Artists of all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Experience living and working in the Tenderloin preferred.
Artists will receive a fee of $1,500 and have access to up to $500 for supplies to execute their projects.
Can’t make it to the mixer? RSVP anyways (with a note that you can’t attend) so we have your contact info for next steps in the applications process.
