2nd Sundays
Spring 2010 Call for Applications

Application Deadline: September 30, 2009

Dancers’ Group and CounterPULSE have teamed up to present 2nd Sundays, a series of free salons where artists share work and dialogue with audience members and fellow artists. We see this as an exciting opportunity to advance discussion of the craft and hope you’ll join us for the conversation.

The Program:

The Spring series of 2nd Sundays takes place at CounterPULSE at 2pm on the 2nd Sunday of each month from February to May 2010. Selected artists present work followed by a facilitated in-depth conversation between the artists and the audience. This program is an ideal opportunity for artists to gain useful feedback about works-in-progress, or to re-visit and delve deeper into completed work.

The Details:

  • Artists have the opportunity to present up to 10 minutes of material on one or more of the four scheduled 2nd Sundays programs.
  • Each program is presented in a bare studio setting with neutral lighting–the focus is on the work, not on theatrical presentation. Each artist will be given a short period of time in the space to run material, but there is no formal tech
  • All artists selected for the fall series are responsible for attending one orientation meeting October 29, 2009 at 5:15pm.
  • Artists are responsible for attending two of the other three programs during the fall series (we encourage you to participate in all of the events if possible).
  • Artists assist in spreading the word about the event. We have found that word of mouth from the artists generates an invested and informed audience.
  • An honorarium of $100 is available to each group.

How to Apply:
The online application form is available at
dancersgroup.org/programs_2ndSundaysApp.php
We encourage artists working in all movement forms to apply, and those who have participated in previous 2nd Sundays are encouraged to apply with new or reworked pieces.

If you have questions about the program or application process, please contact Kegan Marling at (415) 920-9181 or kegan@dancersgroup.org.
